Our Vision

The Spread Good Karma Foundation's mission is to improve the health and well-being of Delaware residents through accessible wellness services focused on both physical and mental health. We aim to reduce healthcare costs by providing free fitness classes, wellness programs, and community-building activities that promote healthier lifestyles. Our long-term goal is to expand into a wellness hub, integrating health, fitness, job training, and community support to create a sustainable impact on the local economy and overall health.

The Big Picture

The Spread Good Karma Foundation is committed to providing preventative healthcare in Delaware.

We believe that by offering complimentary health, fitness, and wellness services to our community -- we can improve our neighbors' health outcomes, lower healthcare costs, foster a better quality of life, strengthen our workforce, and improve the mental and physical health of those that reside in our community.

Our intention to lead in the state as a public health initiative increases accessibility and removes the financial barriers that often occur with health and fitness. We are driven to build an overall better-connected and health conscious community by empowering and educating on nutrition, fitness, mindfulness, and other preventative care measures. With the obesity epidemic and mental health crisis continuing to rise, it is imperative that we #spreadgoodkarma and take a stand in caring for the residents in our state's health tackling it at root cause.

What started as a wellness initiative to provide free fitness and yoga memberships for those in the hospitality industry, became a bigger conversation surrounding burnout, mental health, physical health, and the deep desire for human connection rooted in healthier social gatherings without alcohol. With the support of local fitness studios and wellness practitioners -- we were able to build a calendar full of various healthier community connection meet ups.

With over 400 lives impacted in just one year, we are still just scratching the surface on this crucial need to improve the health outcomes of preventable chronic disease in our community. We have developed an app to broaden the resources, knowledge, and support system for our community, and look forward to expanding our offerings.

Our mission is to grow into a 20,000+ sq ft physical location in the city of Wilmington where we can serve a much broader community. In its' four walls we envision a space for open gym use as well as group classes, a private yoga and meditation studio space, a kids fitness/multi-use activity space, and an outdoor patio for classes and connection. We envision a wellness cafe, sauna and cold plunge, and locker rooms as amenities to round out this third place for health. Most importantly, we plan on starting the Spread Good Karma meal prep company, which serves as a workforce development program. A space for teaching about nutrition, healthier cooking, budget grocery shopping and meal creations, while both selling those meals as well as stocking our community fridges and corporate partners break room fridges. We see job development opportunities in the wellness space, through various coaching, personal training, yoga teaching, and more. We truly believe in spreading good karma -- that healthier communities take care of one another -- and can solve many of these complex problems through preventative care.

What We Are Working Towards

2024

2025

Start hosting free and low-cost, accessible ways to connect with the community in healthier ways. We do this through offering yoga and meditation, run club, walk club, book club, and fitness classes. We host our own as well as receive donated classes through our studio partners who believe in our mission.

Introduce the Spread Good Karma app, which brings the community closer together through chat forums to connect over our offerings, have a safe space to discuss nutrition, fitness, and health with likeminded neighbors, and have access to additional resources. The app continues to offer our calendar full of free or low cost access to healthier events, community chats, a library full of recommended podcast episodes to listen to, personal development book recommendations, healthy recipes to try, nutrition and fitness challenges to participate in, and more.

We host our first all-levels 5k walk/run with a community stretch before and after the event, as well as a separate large yoga in the park event to raise awareness about the SGK foundation.

We begin our venture to bring a farmer's market to Brandywine Park, one of our beloved walk club locations and an underutilized yet beautifully kept park right in its' walkable city. We introduce 30+ vendors each week made up of makers, growers, and farmers to our neighbors in an initiative to support local and bring awareness to agriculture, homesteaders, and creators.

2026

We have established several corporate wellness partners and have expanded our programs to reach a wide variety of demographics in our community, and have begun expanding our reach across other counties in Delaware.

2028

We begin the process on opening a large wellness hub facility for the community.

A state of the art space with open gym access, group fitness classes, a yoga and meditation studio, and a commercial kitchen for our meal prep company. The meal prep kitchen will exist as a workforce development and job training initiative in the restaurant industry, where we focus on creating simple, healthy, affordable meals to sell to the public. We have desires to deliver these meals to our corporate partners' break room fridges, as well as stock them in local community fridges. The commercial kitchen space will also be a space for nutrition and healthier living classes, where we can bring diverse groups of people from corporations to communities to learn about cooking healthier at home and on a budget.

The gym + studio space will be membership based to the community, with the Spread Good Karma model of  "buy one, give one" memberships ,where we have scholarship based memberships for those neighbors that are in deep need of taking control of their health but need support financially to take that next step. We intend to have a workforce development program and apprenticeship opportunities within the health and wellness career path to become yoga teachers, personal trainers, group fitness instructors, and more.

This space will allow us to reach our goal of offering (1) free class every single day on the calendar to the public, while reaching a much broader community in full circle preventative healthcare initiatives. We will be able to host company wellness day retreats, trainings, and more within the space. Were envision this space in downtown Wilmington on the Riverfront, and know that we have the deep need in our communities for this work.
